Set off from Stratford and dropped down the lock on to the River Avon, cruised the very scenic upper Avon and was hoping to moor at Bidford on Avon, but all the moorings had been taken. We found along the Avon most of the locks have good overnight moorings so we stopped overnight at Robert Aickman New Lock. We had a walk thinking we could have a meal at the Fish and Anchor beside the George Billington lock, the next one along. Unfortunately there was no way across the river unless you wanted to paddle knee deep across the ford.

the lock looks like a master piece of british enginering!!,also master craftsmen built the bidford bridge;the avon is a lovely area good scenery all around.hope the weather wont spoil things for you.
Yes the Avon is lovely. The weather has turned a little cooler and we have had some heavy showers today, luckily we only had to cruise through one of them.
